7 October 2026 | 70

Navigating the sprawling world of Elden Ring requires understanding key travel routes, and few landmarks are as significant as the Grand Lift of Dectus. Serving as a monumental gateway between regions, this massive structure connects northern Liurnia of the Lakes directly to the high-altitude expanse of the Altus Plateau. Knowing its precise location on the map and understanding the steps needed to operate it can save players considerable exploration time.

Finding the Grand Lift of Dectus on the Map

The Grand Lift of Dectus sits at the far northern edge of the Liurnia region, carved directly into the towering cliffside. Players can locate it by following the main road leading through the Bellum Highway toward the north. On the map, it appears as a prominent structure positioned right at the border dividing Liurnia and the Altus Plateau.

How to Reach the Entrance from Liurnia

To reach the lift, travelers should start from central Liurnia and head toward the eastern landmass. Riding north along the Bellum Highway offers the most straightforward path, passing near the Bellum Church Site of Grace. Following this highway directly brings you to the grand staircase leading into the lift chamber.

Gathering the Required Dectus Medallion Halves

Operating the lift requires assembling the two halves of the Dectus Medallion. The left medallion half is located in Limgrave atop the eastern tower of Fort Haight. The right medallion half resides in Caelid, hidden inside a chest at the top of Fort Faroth.

Activating the Lift to Access Altus Plateau

Once both medallion halves are collected, return to the base of the lift and stand on the central platform. Interact with the prompt to hoist the medallion, triggering a cutscene that activates the mechanism. The elevator will then carry your character safely up to the golden fields of the Altus Plateau.
