Yuan Ti Scale Mail Guide To Its Properties And Where To Find It
In the world of Baldur's Gate 3, finding high-tier gear can completely change your character build and survival rate during tough encounters. The Yuan-Ti Scale Mail stands out as one of the best medium armors available in the mid-game, offering incredible defensive benefits for agile characters. Understanding its unique attributes and exact location will ensure you do not miss out on this exceptionally valuable item.
Key Properties of Yuan-Ti Scale Mail
The primary feature of the Yuan-Ti Scale Mail is its impressive base Armor Class (AC) of 15, which already rivals many heavy armor pieces. What makes it exceptional is the Exotic Material trait, allowing the wearer to add their full Dexterity modifier to their total Armor Class. This means high-Dexterity characters like Rangers, Rogues, or Bards can achieve extremely high AC without investing in heavy armor proficiency.
In addition to its base defense, this scale mail eliminates the stealth penalties usually associated with medium armors. Characters wearing it can stay sneaky and agile while benefiting from high protection during combat. It also grants a subtle bonus to initiative rolls, giving players a critical head start when battles begin.
Where to Find Yuan-Ti Scale Mail in Baldur's Gate 3
Players can acquire the Yuan-Ti Scale Mail during Act 2 of the campaign upon reaching the Shadow-Cursed Lands. It is sold directly by Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn, a safe haven for harpers and refugees. You will need a decent amount of gold to purchase it, so saving up before entering the region is highly recommended.
Because Quartermaster Talli is located right in the main courtyard, obtaining the armor is straightforward if you keep the sanctuary safe. Ensure that you resolve any surrounding conflicts carefully so that the merchant remains available for trade. Once acquired, equipping it on a character with high agility will immediately yield massive defensive improvements.
Best Character Builds for Yuan-Ti Scale Mail
This armor is ideal for classes that prioritize high Dexterity alongside medium armor proficiency. Dexterity-based Fighters, Rangers, and Swords Bards make perfect use of the full Dex modifier perk. Rogues who gain medium armor proficiency through multiclassing or feats can also become virtually untouchable while maintaining full stealth capabilities.
By pairing this suit with other AC-boosting accessories, like rings or shields, your character can reach defenses typically reserved for endgame paladins. It remains a top-tier gear choice throughout the middle acts and well into the late stages of the game. Investing in the Yuan-Ti Scale Mail provides long-term value for any party seeking optimal survival tactics.
